What the conversion includes
- Tub and surround removal
- New shower pan (tiled or solid-surface), with a low curb or curbless entry where the floor allows
- Waterproofing membrane on walls and floor
- New pressure-balanced or thermostatic valve
- Tile walls with a built-in niche, and optional bench
- Glass door or panel, and blocking for grab bars
Not a liner, a real shower
Many conversion companies install an acrylic liner over the old walls. We remove down to the studs, fix what's behind the wall, and waterproof properly. It costs somewhat more and lasts far longer.
Keep one tub?
If you have young kids or think about resale, keep at least one tub in the house. We'll talk through it with you.
